Who is this visa for?
Foreigners who wish to study in South Africa and who have been accepted at a registered South African learning institution.
Eligibility Criteria
- The learning institution which you will attend must be registered and approved by the Department of Higher Education and Training
- Provide proof that you have been accepted to study at a registered institution
- Provide proof that the person or organisation that is sponsoring your studies will be able to fully support you financially during your time in South Africa or you must provide proof that you are able to support yourself financially
- You must provide evidence that you have medical insurance during your stay in South Africa.
- If you are under 21 you must have a South African guardian who is approved by your guardians in your home country. This must all be included in your application.
Additional Information
You must apply for a new student visa no less than sixty days prior to the expiry date of your study permit.
Tertiary students who have a Study Visa are allowed to work for a maximum period of 20 hours per week on a part-time basis.
