Who is this visa for?
Foreigners who need to undergo medical treatment in South Africa will require a medical visa which is valid for six months at a time.
Eligibility Criteria
- A letter from the applicant’s doctor or hospital which explains the patient’s condition and the treatment that is required.
- The applicant must provide all necessary details of the facility or institution in South Africa where the treatment is to take place.
- The applicant must provide personal details of anyone accompanying him/her.
- The applicant must provide proof that he/she is able to support themselves financially for the time they will be staying in South Africa.
- The applicant must also have a valid return air ticket in their possession. If they fail to do this, they must pay a deposit which will be returned to them after their departure from South Africa.
Additional Information
The Medical Treatment Visa is valid for a maximum period of six months at a time. If the treatment is not anticipated to take longer than three months, it is possible to apply for a Visitor’s Visa.
